V500 Tuning

TUNING 1-8 CLICK SYSTEM (STI) ON V500

 

1.   FIRST OF ALL CHECK CONDITION OF BOTH FRICTION BRAKE PADS BY UNCLIPPING THE NOODLE FROM THE CARRIER ON TOP OF THE RIGHT HAND BRAKE ARM, IF SURFACE IS SHINY AND SMOOTH ROUGH UP USING A WIRE BRUSH OR BASTARD FILE.

 

2.   RE CLIP THE NOODLE BACK INTO THE CARRIER AND ENSURE THAT THE PULLEY WHEEL IS SITTING CORRECTLY ON THE CABLE. THEN CHECK THAT THE SPRINGS ON EACH ARM ARE SET SO THAT BOTH PADS MOVE TOGETHER WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED, IF ONLY 1 ARM MOVES THEN ADJUST THE SPRING BY MEANS OF THE SMALL SCREW (PHILLIPS) [OCCASIONALLY 2.5MM ALLEN KEY] AT THE BASE OF THE ARMS.

 

3.   ONCE THE ARMS ARE BALANCED PLACE THE CLICK SHIFTER IN TO                                       LEVEL 6 AND SPIN THE FLYWHEEL WITH YOUR HAND FIRMLY WHAT YOU SHOULD AIM FOR IS ONE COMPLETE ROTATION OF THE FLYWHEEL.

 

4.   IF THE FLYWHEEL SPINS MORE THAN ONCE THEN TIGHTEN THE BRAKE CABLE. FOR SMALL AMOUNTS USE THE AGJUSTMENT ON THE NOODLE FOR GREATER AMOUNTS LOOSEN THE SCREW ON TOP OF THE LEFT HAND BRAKE ARM (5MM ALLEN KEY) AND PULL THE CABLE TO TIGHTEN USING PLIERS. REPEAT THE SPINNING/TIGHTENING UNTIL YOU HAVE 1 ROTATION OF THE FLYWHEEL PER SPIN.

 

5.   AS 1 FINAL CHECK RELEASE THE SHIFTER DOWN TO LEVEL 8 AND ENSURE THE FLYWHEEL SPINS FREELY.

 

6.   THIS SHOULD GIVE A FREEWHEEL ON 8 VERY SLIGHT FRICTION ON 7 UP TO A HARD WORKOUT ON LEVEL 1
